Why Being Rejected is Actually a Good Thing
Positive Push #1
A few weeks ago, I discovered the 'Rejection Exercise'.
It consists of doing something where you’re 99% sure of getting rejected.
The idea is simple, you plant a seed by doing a first action.
When I think about it, and some opportunities that I had, it often started this way.
By putting myself out there and planting that first seed.
Which means doing a first action towards something that you want.
And the more seeds you plant, the more you build your Rejection Muscle.
In my case, how many times did I NOT get a reply to an email, a follow-up message, a LinkedIn message or an invitation...
Many.
Too many to count actually.
But at least I tried.
Until eventually I started getting some positive replies.
Some of them were followed by calls, new work relationships, new projects, new media features… and so on.
Most of them started by me sending that first message and planting that first seed.
The most important thing is to plant your first seed. Then a second one, and so on.
Get used to rejection until it becomes normal for you.
When you plant many seeds, most of them won’t grow, but eventually, you’ll see that some of them will sprout.
Those are the ones you need to nurture so they can bloom.
Bloom into new opportunities for you. 🫶
Keep pushing,
Alya

Special thank you to the amazing Helena Wasserman who introduced me to the "Rejection Exercise" and motivated me to do it every week. 💪
